Description
This pork chops in sherry-mushroom gravy recipe combines pork chops with an easy mushroom gravy and mozzarella cheese for a comforting weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
•
4 (1-inch thick) boneless pork chops
•
salt and ground black pepper to taste
•
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
•
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
•
2 tablespoons butter
•
1 (8 ounce) package sliced fresh mushrooms
•
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
•
1/2 cup dry cooking sherry
•
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
1
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2
Season pork chops with salt and black pepper; coat in flour. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add chops; brown on both sides, 3 to 5 minutes. Transfer chops to a baking dish.
3
Melt butter in the same skillet. Add mushrooms; cook until tender, scraping the bottom of the skillet, 5 to 7 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper. Add mushroom soup and sherry; stir gravy until well incorporated.
4
Pour gravy over pork chops. Cover dish with aluminum foil.
5
Bake in the preheated oven until chops are no longer pink in centers and an instant-read thermometer inserted into centers reads 145 degrees F (63 degrees C), about 35 minutes. Stir gravy; top chops with mozzarella cheese.
6
Continue baking, uncovered, until cheese is melted, 3 to 5 minutes more.
