Description

This bourbon BBQ sauce, which combines maple whiskey, apple cider, dark molasses, liquid smoke, spices, and maple syrup, tastes great with pulled pork.

Ingredients

1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup maple whiskey (such as Crown Royal Maple®)
1/3 cup apple cider
1/4 cup dark molasses
3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

1 Gather the ingredients.
2 Combine ketchup, maple whiskey, apple cider, dark molasses, apple cider vinegar, pure maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a medium saucepan. Whisk together over medium heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until thickened, 25 to 30 minutes.
3 Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Sauce will thicken as it cools. Store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week, or freeze for future use.
