Description

This cottage cheese bread version calls for a little less yeast, a little more water, and oil instead of margarine. The bread machine does it all after you measure in the routine bread ingredients and a cup of cottage cheese.

Ingredients

3/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1 cup cottage cheese, room temperature
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Directions

1 Add the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer, and select the Basic or White Bread cycle. If your machine does not specify an ingredient order, add warm water, cottage cheese, vegetable oil, and egg first. Top with all-purpose flour, white sugar, baking soda, and salt, covering the liquid ingredients completely. Make a small well in the flour, add the active dry yeast, and start the machine. After 5 to 10 minutes of mixing, check the dough. It should form a smooth, soft ball that is slightly tacky to the touch. If needed, add more bread flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, if the dough is too sticky.
