Description

Frank's spicy beef, onion, and beer chili recipe originated in Alabama. The deep, rich flavors meld together and improve as they rest in the fridge.

Ingredients

2 pounds ground beef chuck
2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
2 (15 ounce) cans spicy chili beans
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice
1 (12 fluid ounce) can beer
2 large white onions, chopped
4 fresh jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
1/3 cup chili powder
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco™), or to taste
3 tablespoons red pepper flakes, or to taste

Directions

1 Crumble ground chuck into a large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir until evenly browned. Drain.
2 Transfer beef to a large pot. Add tomato sauce, chili beans, diced tomatoes, beer, onions, jalapeños, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and red pepper flakes.
3 Cover the pot; simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, about 2 hours. Cool completely. Refrigerate for two days (it improves with time).
