Old-Fashioned Southern Bread Pudding
Description
This spiced bread pudding made with raisins and applesauce makes a delicious dish for brunch, breakfast, or dessert!
Ingredients

3 cups day-old bread cubes

1/3 cup raisins
•
1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
•
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
•
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
•
1 1/2 cups milk
•
1/2 cup white sugar
•
1/4 cup buttermilk
•
2 eggs, beaten
•
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
•
1 dash ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Spread bread cubes and raisins in a 9x13-inch casserole dish. Mix applesauce, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a small bowl. Pour mixture over bread.

Mix milk, sugar, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract together in another bowl and pour over bread. Sprinkle top with a dash of cinnamon.

Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 1 hour.
