Homemade Chili in a Can
Description
It's not made in a can, but if you can open a few cans and chop an onion, you can have this full-flavored but easy chili ready to go in under an hour. Eat as is, make chili dogs, or serve it over cornbread.
Ingredients
•
1 pound lean ground beef
•
1 onion, chopped
•
1 tablespoon minced garlic, or to taste
•
1/2 teaspoon taco seasoning mix, or more to taste
•
3 (16 ounce) cans chili beans, undrained
•
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced stewed tomatoes with chili seasonings
•
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
•
1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies
Directions
1
Place ground beef into a soup pot over medium heat; cook and stir until meat is browned, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks, about 10 minutes.
2
Stir in onion and garlic; cook until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary. Sprinkle meat with taco seasoning mix; cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes.
3
Pour in beans, chili-seasoned tomatoes, tomato sauce, and diced green chilies; stir to combine. Simmer until flavors blend, about 30 minutes.
