Description

This busy mom peach cobbler recipe has been in my Southern family forever and uses warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to flavor this simple cobbler.

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1 (16 ounce) can sliced peaches in heavy syrup
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, or to taste
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg, or to taste
1 cup 2% milk

Directions

1 Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Add butter to an 8x8-inch baking dish; place in the oven to melt.
2 Combine peaches with syrup and 2 tablespoons sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer for 10 minutes. Set aside.
3 Whisk flour, 1 cup sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl; stir in milk until mixture is just moist. Pour batter into the preheated baking dish; spoon peach slices and most of the syrup over batter.
4 Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. Continue baking until golden brown, 30 to 45 minutes more.
