Grandma's blackberry cobbler recipe is a cherished favorite, made with fresh, juicy in-season blackberries, but you can swap any other fruit you like.

Ingredients

3 cups white sugar, divided
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 pinches salt, divided
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup softened butter
1 cup milk
2 pounds fresh blackberries
2 cups boiling water

Directions

1 Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2 Whisk 1 ½ cups sugar, cornstarch, and 1 pinch salt together in a small bowl; set aside.
3 Whisk flour, remaining 1 ½ cups sugar, baking powder, and remaining 1 pinch salt together in a large bowl; stir in butter until mixture resembles cornmeal. Stir in milk until moist.
4 Spread blackberries in an even layer in a 9x13-inch baking dish; spoon batter evenly over top. Sprinkle sugar-cornstarch mixture over batter; pour boiling water over top.
5 Bake in the preheated oven until fruit is bubbling and topping is golden brown, 40 to 45 minutes.
